Resistance
Resistance
By Helena Theodoro
Finally we had carnival, even out of season. The samba schools spent two years preparing for this presentation, full of doubts about the realization of the event, but without stopping producing in their courts and sheds, making poetry, singing, rehearsing and building their world of illusions.
With a dark present, the sambistas took refuge in their ancestry, which suffered so much, traveled across the Atlantic, managing to survive by climbing alleys and alleys, forming quilombos, as well as ways and means of maintaining their lives and stories. Therefore, nothing more natural than learning from yesterday's lesson, perfecting it today, forging a beautiful tomorrow. The samba schools gave us this example.
They sought in their stories and beliefs the strength to show their values and their faith in life. This faith was revealed in their ability to communicate and transform the world with new paths and perspectives that allow growth and good living. Using their itans, stories told by the elders, they showed energies capable of overcoming pain and difficulties. In a process of total communication, they used their bodies in motion, reproducing vital energies, bringing their orixás, inquices and voduns representing the air, water, earth and fire, with the result of movement (EXU) that gives us the leaves, the trees, the animals in different spaces and forms.
